But I continued to find myself curious. That usually means I'm going to see it anyway - which I did. I figure paying only $5 for a matinee isn't too much of a sacrifice. Fortunately I was prepared for disappointment, which means I wasn't. I'm very glad I didn't go into it with any hopes. It allowed me to appreciate the film for what moments it did provide. At least the audience was laughing together at some parts, which made those moments more enjoyable. There was one powerful moment near the end where Sam is telling his parents to run which I thought was well done. It's a shame that other moments in the movie didn't include this kind of focus. Major plot points are ultimately resolved in quick fashion with barely an afterthought. The movie isn't so much a build-up to a climax as it is a steady stream of fights and explosions. A stronger sense of plot would have certainly helped it, as well as plugging the many plot holes (I didn't realize there were so many until I read a recent article). Anyway, I don't regret seeing it. Just make sure if you are going to see it that you go in prepared. |
